My tribute to David

Created by David 3 months ago

I first met David at an interest meeting for Chesham Rotaract Club, when he was elected as the first President. His leadership and hard work set the scene for a lot of great friendships being made which have lasted to this day, more than 40 years later.
The introduction of Rory the Crab as club mascot, the connections made with other clubs, the building of playgrounds and insulating of roofs but first and foremost, enabling a lot of fun times to be had. Pool parties, The Rotavision Song Contest, Charity Bike Rides, Discos, Camping Trips, all while raising money to enable the club to carry out the good works it is intended for.
That first club committee, with David at it’s head, did a terrific job setting the standard for the years that followed.
Miri reminded me of a couple of the funny stories from those days, there were so many, but I can only recall that we all had such a great time. And besides, our children might be listening.
I will always be grateful for David’s work making Chesham Rotaract a great club to be a member of.
In later years I would meet David through his work in the stationery business, club reunions or just bump into him in the street. I always came away thinking what a kind, decent bloke he was and, by golly, how does he keep working so hard?
Thanks for the happy memories David. Rest in peace.
